Dr. Jacob Lisakafu

As a member of RASS, I will focus on the mechanisms of ensuring promotion of peace and security in Africa, specifically on the assessment of the progress of efforts made to coordinate and harmonise peace and security policies and strategies in Africa, with particular focus between the African Union (AU) and the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) and other sub-regional organisations such as EAC, IGAD, ICGLR, and ECOWAS.

Research fields: African Politics and International Relations, special emphasis on dynamics of politics, conflicts and peace in Africa; security regionalism and Mechanisms to ensure global peace particularly focus on the Regional Organisations in Africa as the AU, SADC, EAC, ECOWAS, IGAD and ICGLR.

The Open University of Tanzania

Jacob Lisakafu is a senior lecturer in politics and international relations at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the Open University of Tanzania. He holds a PhD from the Graduate Centre for Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Leipzig, Germany. He has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals. His research interests revolve around the current dynamics of international relations and mechanisms for ensuring global peace and security. It mainly focuses on the new African Peace and Security Architecture, International Organisations and Contemporary Diplomacy, post-conflict reconstructions, security regionalisms, as well as the political and economic dynamics of the African continent, especially the AU, SADC, EAC, ECOWAS, IGAD, and ICGLR.
