Dr. Antonia Witt

I am part of RASS because the network allows me to deepen my work on everyday aspects of African regionalism and the role of experience therein as part of an inspiring group of international scholars.

Research fields: African interventions, authority and legitimacy of international organizations, politics from below

Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF)

Dr. Antonia Witt is the Head of the Research Group ‘African Intervention Politics’ at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF). Her research focuses on African peace interventions, authority and legitimacy in international politics, coups and political crises, and the governance of violent extremism with a regional focus on West Africa. She has led several third-party
funded international research projects on these topics. With regard to the study of regionalism, Antonia’s research has particularly explored the everyday aspects of African regionalism, including African citizens‘ experiences with and responses to African regional policies as well as the everyday practices of those ‚doing‘ African regionalism.
